The Haven
Soft · 3.5 out of 10
You sink in and stay there.
Sleepers with joint pain, lighter frames who want to feel cradled, and anyone advised they need pressure relief.
Built by hand. Never rolled into a box.
Most memory foam sold in Britain arrives crushed into a cardboard tube. Ours is made to order in our own factory, delivered at full depth by our own team, and backed for fifteen years. Take twenty minutes and we will show you the difference.
A surface that will not move takes your whole body weight through four or five small areas: shoulder, hip, knee, heel. Those points carry a load they were never built to hold for eight hours, so you roll over to relieve them. That is what tossing and turning actually is.
Memory foam is viscoelastic. Your body warmth softens it exactly where you press hardest, so it yields under the hip and stays put under the lumbar curve.
Fewer position changes through the night means fewer of those shallow half-wakings you never remember but always feel the next morning.
Shoulders, hips and knees stop bearing concentrated load. This is why memory is what we point people towards when they tell us they wake up aching.
Memory absorbs movement, then the pocket springs beneath absorb it again. If your partner gets up at six, you find out in the morning.
It is not a shape set on night one. Every time you shift, the surface is still moving with you, which is why it feels slow rather than springy.
Honest caveat, and we would rather say it here than have you find out: memory foam holds warmth. If heat already wakes you up, our Gel Hybrid range does the same job without the temperature.
A boxed mattress is compressed to roughly a fifth of its depth, vacuum sealed, rolled, and then left that way through a warehouse, a container and a van. Sometimes for weeks. Sometimes for months.
Ours never enters this diagram at all. We build your mattress after you order it and deliver it at full depth, so there is no compression, no recovery period and nothing to air out.
Ours is ready the night it lands. There is no expansion period and no wondering whether the dip in the middle is the foam still recovering or the mattress you have bought.
That new-mattress smell is solvent released by foam that has been sealed under vacuum. Ours is never compressed, so there is nothing to air out of your bedroom for a week.
Your mattress is built to your size in our factory and delivered in one to two weeks. It has not spent four months rolled in a shipping container.
Most of the memory foam names you are comparing us against are marketing companies. They design a brand, commission the manufacturing, and ship it. We have been making mattresses for over fifty years, and the people who build yours are on our own floor.
A family business in furniture and bed manufacturing since 1968. The knowledge that goes into these is not bought in from a supplier, it is the thing we have always done.
Every mattress in this range is made in our own factory, to your size, after you order. Not sourced, not badged, not imported and relabelled.
Soft, medium and firm in the same range, chosen before we build it. Boxed brands almost always sell a single tension because that is what mass production allows.
We make the frames too, several of them on registered design rights. So the mattress and the bed it sits in were designed together, rather than a mattress brand adding a bought-in frame range as an afterthought.
The surface your skin actually meets is tailored to the panel and tufted through to the layers beneath. The border is hand side-stitched so the edge stays upright and the bed is the same at the sides as in the middle.
Most of the category guarantees ten years. We guarantee fifteen, because we made it and we know what went into it.
Not five, not ten. Fifteen years, registered for you at the point of order so there is no card to post back and no warranty to activate.
It is the length it is because we are the manufacturer. When something is wrong with a mattress we made, it comes back to the people who made it.
A boxed mattress is a courier drop and a cardboard tube you have to wrestle upstairs yourself. We can bring it in, put it where it goes, and take the old one away with us.
Included on every mattress, to your door.
Two people, into the room of your choice, unwrapped and positioned.
Booked at the same time and removed on the same visit.
Measure your narrowest doorway, stairwell and any half landing before ordering a super king or emperor. A deep mattress does not bend round a tight turn, and we would rather know beforehand.
Identical build, identical ticking, identical 26cm depth. The only difference is the spring count underneath, and that decides how far you sink before the bed stops you.
Soft · 3.5 out of 10
You sink in and stay there.
Sleepers with joint pain, lighter frames who want to feel cradled, and anyone advised they need pressure relief.
Medium · 5.5 out of 10

Firm · 7.5 out of 10
You stay near the surface.
Back sleepers, heavier frames and larger couples who need pressure relief and firm support together.
Choosing between them is the one thing you cannot get badly wrong, because the comfort exchange covers exactly this. If you would rather not guess, ring us on 0800 470 4615.
You are almost certainly comparing us to a boxed brand. Here is the honest version, including the rows they beat us on.
| The Sleep Co Memory | A typical boxed memory brand | |
|---|---|---|
| Who actually makes it | We do, in our own factory, over 50 years of it | Marketing-led brands with the making outsourced |
| Guarantee | 15 years | Usually 10 years |
| Compressed for shipping | Never | Yes, to roughly a fifth of its depth |
| Ready to sleep on | The night it arrives | After 24 to 72 hours of expansion |
| Feels offered | Three, chosen before it is built | Usually one per model |
| Springs | 1,000 to 3,000, pocketed | Often none, or a single spring tier |
| Delivery | Our team, into the room, old one taken away | Courier to the doorstep |
| A bed frame designed to match | Yes, several on registered design rights | A bought-in frame range, chosen separately |
| Comfort period | 90 nights, unlimited exchanges | 100 to 200 nights, usually money back |
| Starting price | From £579 | Often discounted below £400 |
That is what the ninety nights are for. Sleep on it, and if the tension is not right, exchange it for a different one in the range. You can do that as many times as you need to land on the right one. Give each one a fortnight before you judge it.
Memory foam holds warmth, which is why we never use it as a solid slab. The sprung core underneath is mostly air, so heat moves down and out rather than collecting under you. It still runs warmer than latex or gel. If heat currently wakes you, look at our Gel Hybrid range instead.
Usually not, and it is the most common mistake we see. A surface that will not yield leaves the lumbar curve unsupported, which is often what caused the ache. Most people with back pain do better on the Camden than the Stanton. If a physio has told you something specific, ring us and tell us what they said.
Because it is made to order in Britain by people we employ, on a pocket spring core, and delivered by our own team rather than a courier. A £399 boxed mattress is a different product built to a different brief. We would rather explain the gap than pretend it is not there.
Rotate it head to foot every couple of months. Do not flip it. The memory layer is on one side only, which is the point of it.
Any standard UK divan, slatted frame or ottoman base in the matching size. On an adjustable base the Haven and Camden flex well, but ring us about the Stanton first: 3,000 springs is less willing to bend.
Five minutes on the phone beats a fortnight of reading, and it is cheaper for both of us than an exchange.
