Start with the room, not the bed
The most common regret we hear is not about comfort. It is about scale. A bed that looked generous on screen can swallow a room, and a bed that looked modest can leave a room feeling unfinished.
Measure three things.
Floor space
Allow 60cm to 75cm of walking space on any side you need to get to. If the bed sits against a wall on one side, you only need that clearance on the other.
Obstructions
Radiators, sockets, window sills, door swings and wardrobe doors all sit at bed height. A bed that fits on paper can still block a wardrobe.
Access
Stairwells, landings, tight turns and low ceilings are what stop a delivery, not the bedroom itself. Measure the narrowest point of the route in and note any turn you would struggle to carry a wardrobe around.
