Hand filled with British wool, not chemical foam.
Our natural mattresses are built from breathable fibres and hand nested pocket springs, the same materials I spent twenty years making for the best bedrooms in Britain. No polyurethane. No chemical fire retardants. Just sleep that breathes with you.
Most mattresses are blocks of petroleum foam wrapped in fabric. They trap heat, they break down, and they need a chemical fire blanket to pass safety law. A natural mattress does none of that. Wool, cotton and natural latex breathe, they last, and wool passes fire safety on its own.
What we fill it with
Every layer earns its place. Nothing synthetic, nothing that off gasses, nothing you cannot pronounce.
British fleece woolComfort and climate
Wool wicks moisture away and regulates temperature, so the bed feels warm in winter and cool in summer. It is also naturally flame resistant, which means we meet UK fire safety regulations without the chemical retardants foam mattresses depend on.
Natural cottonBreathable comfort layer
Soft cotton sits next to you and lets air move freely through the surface. No trapped heat, no clammy sleep, no plastic feel against the skin.
Natural latexResponsive support
Tapped from the rubber tree rather than poured from a barrel, natural latex gives back instantly as you move and holds its shape for years. It is naturally hypoallergenic and resistant to dust mites.
Hand nested pocket springsIndividual support
Each spring works on its own inside its own pocket, so the bed supports your spine where it needs it and absorbs movement so you do not feel your partner turn over.
Most mattresses are not built like this

What natural feels like
Sleeps cool
Wool and cotton move heat and moisture away instead of trapping it under you.
Breathes
Natural fibres let air pass through the bed, so it stays fresh night after night.
No off gassing
No foam means no chemical smell and no volatile compounds released into your room.
Lasts longer
Hand tufted natural fillings hold their support for years rather than sagging into a dip.

I spent twenty years making mattresses that carried other people's names, including beds designed for Harrods. The finest of them always had one thing in common. Honest filling. Wool that breathes, springs nested by hand and tufts tied so nothing shifts. The Natural Collection is that craft under my own name, built the way my family has made furniture since 1968.
Made in Britain since 1968
The Sleep Co did not begin as a brand. It began as a workshop. Our family has been making furniture in Britain since 1968, supplying some of the most respected names in the country, including beds designed for Harrods.
Gee learned the trade from the inside. She designs every frame in the range herself and holds registered designs to her name. The Natural Collection brings that same hand built standard to mattresses, made to order under our own name.

Your questions
How does a natural mattress pass fire safety without chemicals?
Wool is naturally flame resistant. It chars rather than melting, so a wool layer acts as a fire barrier and lets the mattress meet UK fire safety regulations without the sprayed on chemical retardants used in foam mattresses.
Are natural mattresses firmer than foam?
They feel different rather than simply firmer. Natural latex and pocket springs give responsive support that holds your spine in line, while the wool and cotton layers add a soft, breathable surface. You choose your comfort level when you order.
Do I need to turn it?
We recommend rotating the mattress regularly so the fillings settle evenly. Confirm whether your build is single or double sided and whether it needs turning as well as rotating.
I think I am sensitive to latex. Is that a problem?
Natural latex allergies are rare and usually relate to direct skin contact rather than a latex core sealed inside a mattress. If you have a diagnosed latex allergy, speak to us before ordering and we will talk you through the build.
How long until it arrives?
