Gel Hybrid range / Built in Britain
The Kensington
Two spring layers, not one. Wool above the foam, not under it. A Belgian cooling ticking that unzips and goes in the machine.
Soft. Hot sleepers who want a cushioned surface, and anyone who found memory foam claustrophobic.
Why this range exists
Gee in the factory
Made by the person whose name is on it
Twenty years supplying Harrods, Vispring and Furniture Village before we put our own name on a mattress.

The seven layer cool build
Most hybrids are foam on springs and that is the whole story. This one has springs at both ends of the build.
- 01 The Coolweave Cover Cool to the touch, and it goes in the machine GTA Belgium® Cool Gel fabric, woven in Belgium. Zips off completely. Most mattress covers are sewn shut and stay shut for fifteen years. This one unzips.
- 02 The Wool Veil Wool, not foam, against you Wool layer laid directly beneath the cover. Moves moisture away and holds a steady temperature through the seasons. It is why the surface does not feel synthetic.
- 03 Gelflow Comfort Foam The cushion, without the heat Gel infused foam comfort layer. Plain memory foam holds warmth against the body. The gel infusion draws that heat out of the foam instead.
- 04 Breathecoil Micro Springs What makes it ours Springs where comfort happens, not just underneath Dedicated micro spring layer set close to the sleeping surface. Almost every mattress at this price puts all its springs in the base. Ours has a second spring layer near the top, so the surface responds point by point and moves air every time it compresses.
- 05 Silentcore Foam The quiet middle Core foam layer between the comfort layers and the spring base. Carries the structural load and stops the two spring layers talking to each other, which is what keeps the bed silent.
- 06 The Edgeframe Sit on the edge without sliding off it Flexi foam perimeter reinforcement, full border. The edge is where cheap mattresses collapse first. This is the layer most brands leave out and never mention.
- 07 The Nested Pocket Base 1000 The support that decides how long it lasts Nested pocket spring unit, each spring in its own fabric pocket. Nesting sets the pockets into each other rather than side by side, fitting more springs into the same footprint. Each one answers only to the part of you above it.

Fig. 3 Base spring count by tension, King size
Same build, three tensions
All three share the seven layer construction. What changes is the spring count in the base and the density of the Gelflow layer.

Table 1 Construction types compared
What a gel hybrid actually does
| Construction | Does well | Trade off | Sleeps |
|---|---|---|---|
| Memory foam | Deep contour, strong pressure relief | Slow to respond, can feel enveloping | Warm |
| Gel hybrid | Contour and support together | Less deep contour than pure memory foam | Cool |
| Pocket spring | Supportive, responsive, durable | Little surface cushioning on its own | Cool |

The questions our sales line gets
How is this different from a memory foam mattress?
Two things. The comfort layer is gel infused rather than plain memory foam, and it sits over two separate spring layers rather than a solid foam block. You get the cushioned surface without the heat that comes with a deep foam build.
How deep is it?
26cm in every size. Check your fitted sheets, and if you have an ottoman base check the lid clears 26cm.
What is the difference between the three feels?
The base spring count and the density of the Gelflow layer. Kensington is 1,000, Belgravia is 2,150 and Westbourne is 3,000. All three share the same seven layer construction.
Standard or Zip and Link?
Zip and Link is two single mattresses that zip together, so each side can have its own feel and it fits through tight stairwells. Available King and above.
Can I order a size that is not listed?
Yes. Choose Custom Size and our team will confirm your measurements before the build starts.
Can I wash the cover?
Yes. The Coolweave cover unzips completely and goes in the machine. Most mattresses at this price are sewn shut.
Do I need a mattress protector?
We recommend one, and staining is not covered by the guarantee. Using a protector is not a condition of the guarantee, unlike some brands.
