The design
Piper
A tall square headboard outlined in fine piping. The Piper, tailored without fuss.
The Piper headboard is a clean rectangle with square shoulders and a plain upholstered face. A single line of piping traces an inset border around the panel, and piping runs around the whole bed, so the frame reads as one tailored piece rather than a headboard with a base attached. No buttons, no channels, no studs. The detail is in the edges.

This is the bed for a room that wants structure without ornament. It sits as easily in a period townhouse as in a new build, and it suits plain velvets and textured weaves that let the piping catch the light.
Choose your base. Non storage on tapered wooden legs, manual ottoman for everyday lift-up storage, electric ottoman for touch-of-a-button access, or full adjustable platform. On ottoman and adjustable bases, the legs are removed and the base sits flush to the floor for maximum storage.
Crafted not assembled. Handmade to order in our British workshop by the same craftspeople who have supplied Britain's leading bed retailers for over two decades. Solid FSC beech frame. Piping cut and sewn in your own fabric, not bought in. Slats 3cm apart, rated for our heaviest natural-fill mattresses. 15 year frame guarantee. Delivered and installed by our own team, not a courier.

Want to see it first? Order swatches before you commit, 50p each. The image shows a soft grey velvet, but the same shape carries navy, forest green, oat bouclé and cream linen.

The mattress rests directly on top of the upholstered side rails rather than dropping inside the frame. The rails sit hidden, so the bed reads as one clean unbroken upholstered line.

Five bases. One decision that changes the room.
The base changes the height, the floor line and how much you can store. Non storage sits on legs. Every storage and adjustable base sits flush to the floor. Tap a base to choose it.
Why it takes five weeks
Your bed does not exist yet. That is the point.
Nothing sits in a warehouse waiting for you. Once you order, your frame is cut, upholstered and checked by hand in our British workshop, in your fabric and your size.

Getting it into your room
The headboard is the largest single piece.
- The side rails, base and platform are smaller parts, each packed separately, and our team assembles them in your room.
- If we cannot get your bed into the room on delivery day, you can cancel your order, so you can buy without the worry.
- Tight stairs? Send a photo of your staircase, landing and doorway to sales@thesleepco.com and we will check before we cut.

Before you order
Questions about made to order
Why does it take five weeks?
Your bed is built after you order it, in your fabric and your size. The 25 working days cover cutting, framing, upholstery, a final inspection and booking your delivery slot.
Can I get it sooner?
Add Fast Track Production for £300 and your bed moves to the front of the build queue, with delivery within two weeks. Fast Track is available to mainland UK addresses only. If you need a bed within days, our Quick Ship range holds a small number of finished beds ready to go.
Can I change my order?
Yes. Change your size, base, fabric or feet free of charge within 24 hours of ordering. After that your fabric is cut and the build has started.
Will it fit up my stairs?
Your bed arrives in separate parts, the headboard, the base and the fittings, and our team assembles it in your room. The headboard is the largest single piece. If access is tight, send a photo of your stairs, landing and doorway to sales@thesleepco.com and we will check before we cut.
What if it is not right for me?
Every bed carries our 90-Night Comfort Exchange, made to order beds included. Because your bed is built for you, it cannot be returned for a refund unless it is faulty or not what you ordered. If it arrives faulty, we put it right at our cost.
How is it delivered?
By our own team, not a courier. Choose drop off or two man installation above and we will not ask again at checkout.
